Happy International Mother Language Day

Dear FLTAs and friends of FLTAs,

My name is Sadiq Rahman,an Indian FLTA teaching Bengali in the University of Texas at Austin.

It gives me immense pleasure and pride, like many other FLTAs, to teach and spread my mother language all around the globe.I love my mother language like all of you do and respect it from the core of my heart.All our respect ,love and admiration comes from a very close association with our mother tongue from a very small age.

21st February is the International Mother Language day.A red letter day in world history.A day when we should pay tribute to our mother language.On this day let us all join hands promote our language and play the role of a cultural ambassadors in the best possible way.Let us do the least we can.Let us all share the love for our language,break borders and live in world harmony and peace.Because like our real mothers ,our mother language too teaches us the lessons of love,brother hood and prosperity amongst mankind.I take this opportunity to thank all my fellow Brother and Sister FLTAs and to congratulate them in their wonderful journey of preaching the language of love amongst fellow human beings.I invite all of you to share the experiences of learning and teaching your mother language.

In fact,I was wondering that it would be interesting if we planned to publish a journal in which we would chose a topic every month/2 months and write about it in our own language and translate it in English ourselves too for other people to read.Imagine all of us writing in so many languages about the very same topic.It could becomes the highest chain of language translations in the world!For example: I write my views about The International Mother Language Day in Bengali and translate it into English for the rest of you to read.And you do the same for your language it would really be a very good source of inter lingual and inter cultural ex change.

Please tell me friends what you think about this idea.We can continue doing this for a long time.Long after this Fulbright experience is over.That could also keep us connected for a long.
